Reports to: Finance Director
About the Role
We’re looking for a pragmatic Software Business Analyst to support multiple software and systems projects across a growing SME. You’ll sit between business operations and technical delivery, turning real business needs into clear, workable solutions without over-engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, document, and validate business requirements
- Translate needs into user stories, functional specs, and acceptance criteria
- Facilitate workshops with internal SMEs and manage expectations across teams
- Identify process improvements and automation opportunities
- Support backlog creation, prioritisation, and UAT
- Advise on system architecture, integrations, and data flows
- Work with external dev teams to ensure delivery aligns with requirements
- Produce clear documentation: process flows, diagrams, decision logs

Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of software delivery (Agile or hybrid)
- Office 365 user administration
- Familiarity with Azure Entra / Active Directory
- Basic SQL Server (queries, data management)
- Understanding of APIs, integrations, and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP)
What You Bring
- Experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or Solutions Analyst
- Ability to work across multiple projects in a fast-moving SME
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Comfortable advising non-technical SMEs and simplifying complexity
- Pragmatic, organised, and confident at constructively challenging assumptions

Nice to Have
- SME or scale-up experience
- Knowledge of information security and data protection
- Experience with Jira or Azure DevOps
- Understanding of AI capabilities and how they translate into business features
