Position Summary
An exciting opportunity exists for a Software Capability Lead to join Rolls-Royce’s Model Based Software Engineering team.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Developing and refining people, processes, and tools for software development and verification of high-integrity systems using model-based design and simulation.
- Ensuring engineers have the knowledge and skills to create and maintain software architectures and designs, while supporting verification activities.
- Delivering continuous capability improvements, ensuring compliance with stanards, regulations, and engineering lifecycle reviews.
- Supporting the development of software Product Line solutions for new Rolls-Royce Aerospace products.
- Contributing to global best practices, working with teams in Indianapolis and Friedrichshafen.
Core Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Strategy
- Guide the Engineering resource group, ensuring adherence to:
- Agreed quality processes
- Corporate methodology
- Regulatory requirements
- Engineering lifecycle reviews
- Define and maintain robust resource plans, covering:
- Delivery commitments
- Budgeting
- Future business needs (recruitment, subcontracting, partner integration)

Team Management & Development
- Lead, develop, and manage teams to ensure:
- Clear objectives alignment
- Appropriate training & professional development
- Effective reward and performance management
- Compliance with Health, Safety, and Security (HSE) policies
- Integrate knowledge management and knowledge capture to improve operational efficiency
Operational Excellence
- Drive continuous improvement through:
- Process reviews
- Lessons-learned documentation
- Best-practice collaboration
- Automate interaction with supply chains and stakeholder infrastructure interface points
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a key focal point for internal and external communication
- Manage functional interfaces with engineering units and external partners
Position Qualifications & Requirements
Essential Experience & Skills
✔ Degree level or equivalent qualification in relevant engineering discipline ✔ Demonstrates sound engineering judgement and deep technical understanding of high-integrity systems ✔ Strong leadership & project management skills ✔ Proven ability to build high-performing teams and influence organisational culture and behaviours ✔ Familiarity with Company Quality policies & processes ✔ Extensive experience in applying process improvement techniques and driving operational efficiency
