Position Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Capability Lead to join the Model-Based Software Engineering team.
This role focuses on:
- Developing people, processes, and tools for high-integrity model-based software development and verification
- Ensuring accountability for:
- Enabling software engineering teams to create and maintain software architectures and designs
- Supporting verification efforts
- Driving capability improvements
- Ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements
The High Integrity Model-Based Software Engineering function delivers Product Line solutions for all new Rolls-Royce Aerospace products. Working in a global capability group across sites in Indianapolis, Friedrichshafen, and the UK, this role contributes to evolving and enhancing best practices in model-based software engineering across the organisation.
What You Will Be Doing
- Provide technical leadership for the Engineering resource group, ensuring adherence to:
- Agreed processes
- Corporate methodology
- Regulatory requirements
- Engineering lifecycle reviews
- Develop and maintain robust resource plans, including:
- Recruitment
- Subcontracting
- Partner integration
- Meeting delivery commitments and business needs
- Identify and ensure sustained availability of:
- Required capabilities
- Skills and resources
- Alignment with business strategy and programme needs
- Lead, develop, and manage team performance with:
- Clear objectives
- Training and professional development
- Reward management
- Health, safety, and security compliance
- Act as the primary communication hub for the resource group, managing:
- Functional interfaces
- Relationships between engineering and the supply chain
- Drive continuous improvement, operational best practices, and knowledge management through:
- Lessons-learned capturing
- Process reviews
- Cross-group collaboration

Position Qualifications
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent
- Demonstrates:
- Sound engineering judgement
- Knowledge of customers and programmes
- Effective leadership and technical skills
- Ability to:
- Build high-performing teams
- Foster positive shifts in attitudes and behaviours
- Understanding of:
- Company quality policies
- Processes deployed within the resource group
- Experience in:
- Applying process improvement techniques
- Driving business improvements
