Position Summary
An exciting opportunity exists for a Software Capability Lead in the Model Based Software Engineering (MBSE) team. You will oversee the development of people, processes, and tools for high-integrity software development, ensuring sustainable expertise, process excellence, and regulatory compliance across critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
The High Integrity MBSE team develops aerospace product software architectures and deploys globally, supporting Rolls-Royce sites in Solihull, Indianapolis, and Friedrichshafen. As Capability Lead, you will:
- Provide technical leadership for the engineering team, ensuring alignment with corporate standards, regulations, and programme needs
- Execute resource planning to meet delivery timelines, budgets, and future growth, including recruitment, subcontracting, and strategic partnerships
- Nurture career development, mentorship, and performance management, fostering professional growth and team performance
- Drive knowledge management initiatives and lessons learnt to sustain best practices and operational excellence
- Collaborate across the organisation and supply chain, bridging functional gaps to optimize process improvements
- Champion HSE, security, and inclusion & diversity principles within the team

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate degree level or equivalent experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or allied fields
- Proven engineering judgment in complex high-integrity software environments
- Demonstrable leadership in building high-performing technical teams and adopting transformational mindset-shift
- Deep understanding of Rolls-Royce Quality policies, regulatory frameworks (e.g., DO-178C, ARP 4761) and ISO standards
- Expertise in process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, 6 Sigma, agile or iterative development)
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder management, and supply chain integration
