Trust Payments have an exciting opportunity for a Software Developer (Full stack) to join our Trust Retail team.
Location: Hybrid - Bournemouth, United Kingdom
Salary: Competitive + Benefits
***During your 3 months period, you'll be based in the office full-time, after 3 months, you'll have the opportunity to move to a hybrid working pattern.
Please note that due to the nature of this role, all shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an in-person interview at our Bournemouth office.
How will you make an impact in this role?
We are seeking a highly capable Software Developer to join our Trust Retail team in developing retail, EPOS, stock management, and customer engagement solutions. The successful applicant will have a good understanding of the software development process, including front-end, back-end, and Android mobile application development.
The ideal applicant will have a demonstrated history of delivering high-quality, maintainable, and scalable production code. As a full-stack software developer, you will apply your skills in developing robust and secure applications that meet the evolving needs of our customers.
This role includes participation in an on-call Rota, providing 24/7 support coverage for a one-week period approximately every 5 to 6 weeks (subject to Rota size at any given time).
- On-call allowance: A fixed additional payment is provided for each on-call week, compensating for your availability during that period
- Time Off in Lieu (TOIL): Where work is carried out significantly outside of standard working hours, TOIL will be accrued accordingly

What We Expect of You, Day To Day:
- Develop features into new and existing projects in accordance with customer requirements
- Write and maintain meaningful unit tests to help achieve a high level of code coverage across projects
- Participate in code review processes and contribute to the writing of technical documentation
- Address bugs and reduce technical debt across a varied tech stack
- Support test resource by building and deploying artefacts to environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve environmental, infrastructure, and application issues across both production and test cloud-based environments
- Participate and contribute to team-driven agile processes
- Attend daily stand-up meetings and collaborate with relevant stakeholders
- Comply with all legislation, codes of practice, health and safety, and GDPR compliance appropriate to the role
Qualifications
Required
- Solid experience in full-stack development with a focus on Android and Java microservice development
- Knowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Familiarity with MySQL or equivalent database
- Experience in writing and maintaining unit tests for Java-based web services, microservices, and Android code
- Effective problem-solving and communication skills
- Good documentation and reading skills
Desirable
- Familiarity with AWS
- A good understanding of various communication protocols and technologies, including HTTPS, RESTful web APIs, and RabbitMQ messaging brokers
- Experience with Atlassian products such as Jira and Bitbucket
- A good understanding of branching strategies, including the use of Git, tools such as Git Extensions, and the ability to resolve merge conflicts using established merge tools
- Ability to effectively gather and interpret requirements needed to develop features
