Software Developer – Public Sector Digital Transformation
About the Role
You'll be joining a global technology organisation delivering critical digital transformation programmes across the public sector. Working on a high-profile government account, you'll contribute to large-scale platforms that support millions of users across the UK.
Your Responsibilities
As a Software Developer, you will:
- Design, build, and improve modern software solutions tailored to user needs
- Develop high-quality, secure, and scalable applications in an Agile environment
- Work across the full development lifecycle, including:
- Writing clean, maintainable code
- Supporting production systems
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
- Embrace a "you build it, you run it" approach, taking full ownership of the services you develop
- Collaborate in a hybrid setting, with on-site presence expected during early project stages

Experience & Skills Required
Essential
- Strong experience in software development and engineering best practices
- Proficiency in Java or Scala-based development
- Experience with microservices architectures and API-driven environments
- Understanding of cloud platforms, particularly AWS
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and test-driven development
- Strong grasp of systems integration and service support
Desirable
- Experience with containerisation (Kubernetes/ECS)
- Familiarity with modern frontend technologies (React, Node.js)
- Background in public sector or regulated environments
