Software Developer - XR

Description
As a Software Developer - XR at Foster + Partners, you will help shape cutting-edge extended reality (XR) technologies that transform how the built environment is designed, visualised and experienced. Working within the Applied Research + Development team, you will create immersive, interactive applications that enable real-time collaboration, high-fidelity visualisation and spatial insight across architecture, engineering and construction projects.
This role is ideal if you want to:
Build immersive XR applications that push the boundaries of design and collaboration. Work across the full innovation lifecycle from experimental prototypes to production-ready solutions. Explore cutting-edge AR, VR and real-time game engine technologies. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across architecture, engineering and technology. Contribute to meaningful projects that shape the future of the built environment.

What you will bring to the team:
Strong experience developing interactive or XR applications across multiple platforms and devices. Advanced knowledge of Unreal and/or Unity game engines and real-time rendering workflows. Solid programming expertise in C++ and/or C#. Awareness of XR risks and best practices with a focus on delivering robust, secure solutions. Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices and version control tools such as Git. Knowledge of UI/UX principles and interaction design within immersive environments. Familiarity with cloud, streaming or GPU technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure, CUDA) and design and construction tools such as Rhino, Grasshopper or Revit is advantageous.
