About the Role
Our team is at the forefront of large-scale data management, actively contributing to the Apache Iceberg project and helping shape the future of open table formats. We’re focused on making data ingestion patterns from any source system reliable, cost-effective, and easy to implement, while maintaining compatibility with popular analytics engines and ensuring optimal query performance through intelligent partitioning and indexing strategies.
Key Job Responsibilities
Collaborate with experienced, cross-disciplinary Amazonians to:
- Conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
- Develop next-generation technologies in large distributed computing environments, reshaping industry-wide standards.
- Lead cross-functional collaborate on design approaches, prototyping new technology, and evaluating feasibility.
- Translate feature specifications into maintainable, scalable code.
- Build scalable, high-performance storage, indexing, and query systems, ensuring system-level optimization.
- Solve problems at scope and design well-architected solutions under broadly defined requirements.
- Work in an agile environment, delivering high-quality, production-grade software continuously.

Basic Qualifications
- Professional software development experience (non-internship)
- Programming proficiency in at least one modern language (Java, C++, or C#), including familiarity with object-oriented design
- Comprehensive knowledge of:
- Professional software engineering best practices
- The full lifecycle of software development, including:
- Coding standards
- Software architectures
- Code reviews & source control management (version control)
- Continuous integration/deployment
- Quality assurance methods & testing strategies
- Operational excellence
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- Field expertise in software development iteration, covering:
- Coding standard mastery
- Code reviews, repository governance
- Build process optimization
- Testing workflows
- Operations tuning
