Software Development Engineer, Prime Video Website Team

Description

Join Prime Video to deliver the vision of being the one-stop destination for entertainment, and solve challenging and rewarding problems for the customers across the world. You will join one of the core client teams in Prime Video, and directly deliver new and exciting experiences for the millions of our customers.

Prime Video is a premium streaming service that offers customers a vast collection of TV shows, Movies, Live TV, Sports and more types of content - all with the ease of finding what they love to watch in one place. You will join the website team in Prime Video. We are available through the Amazon Retail Website, a dedicated global website, the Windows App as well as emerging devices via our newly launched Progressive Web Client. We uniquely obsess over giving customers the best first experience on Prime Video, as many customers discover Prime Video for the first time on our website. We also obsess over the availability, accessibility, scalability and reliability of our systems. As part of the website team in Prime Video, you will have the chance to directly and meaningfully impact the business and customers every day.

Key job responsibilities

You will work as part of one of our 2-pizza teams, launching and growing new initiatives for Amazon's global business. You will be a significant independent contributor, owning highly impactful business outcomes. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Program Managers, UX Designers, Engineering partners, and Leadership across the company to deliver those outcomes. You will regularly challenge the status quo, and implement high standards of operations on your team. You will mentor and grow the next generation of engineers, as well as pursue opportunities to grow your own skills and career.

A day in the life

You will own the end-to-end delivery of customer or platform features - working on front-end (TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, Sass), back-end APIs or webservers (Java, Scala), testing (Storybook, Playwright), and infrastructure (AWS, CDK). You will review code, design documents, and plan your work using standardised tools, and processes with your team. You will work with product, program, and UX owners to define, refine and iterate on prototypes.

Our team owns the customer experience of some of the major entry points on Prime Video for video discovery, we drive complex business problems, build global technology solutions to provide customized compelling content to customers in each country where we operate. The team enables Prime Video customers to instantly discover, search, navigate, browse content, and manage preferences, primarily across website platforms using any modern web browser on any device anywhere in the world.

The website team is a highly diverse and inclusive group, with passion for building real world solutions, experimentation and innovation at the core of our initiatives. We aim for keeping a self-sustainable process of improvement in our tech stack, moving fast for creating new functionalities and delivering for strategic projects across Prime Video. Basic Qualifications

Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems Experience in professional, non-internship software development Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design Bachelor's degree or equivalent Experience debugging, profiling, and implementing best software engineering practices in large-scale systems Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
