Lending Software Development Engineer As a Lending Software Development Engineer, you’ll join a collaborative engineering team responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and evolving our mortgage applications while supporting the wider strategic direction of the Group. You’ll play a key role in the design, build, test, implementation, and support of the core systems and integrations that underpin the origination and servicing of our mortgages. You’ll be working in a complex, evolving technology landscape where reliability, quality, and customer outcomes matter.
We’re looking for experienced software engineers with strong technical capability who are keen to apply their expertise to deliver meaningful change.
What You’ll Do Design, develop, and document software and system configuration, ensuring solutions meet business requirements and adhere to development and quality standards Build and maintain scalable, supportable applications across our lending platforms Analyse existing systems and codebases to diagnose and resolve defects efficiently Participate in peer reviews of designs, code, and testing artefacts to maintain high engineering standards Collaborate closely with architects, analysts, product owners, and wider engineering teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions Perform impact analysis on requirements and proposed designs to ensure safe and effective change Deliver work using Agile practices (Kanban, Scrum), providing transparent progress updates and contributing to continuous improvement Support live production systems, ensuring stability and timely resolution of incidents and issues Continuously develop your technical and domain knowledge through internal training, knowledge sharing, and self-directed learning

How You’ll Do It You’ll bring strong experience in one or more core technologies used within the Group’s lending technology landscape, such as: Cobol C# / .NET PL/SQL Microsoft SQL Server Oracle Forms Java In addition, you’ll ideally have experience in or exposure to: System and solution design Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices Working in environments that balance legacy platforms with modern engineering approaches
What You’ll Bring Demonstrable experience in a software engineering role The ability to interpret complex technical and business information and communicate it clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Experience working within IT delivery and/or production support environments An understanding of system maintenance, change delivery, and operational support
