Software Development Engineer (Simulation)

Software Development Engineer (Modelling, Simulation & V&V) – Electric Rotorcraft (eVTOL)

About Expleo Expleo is a trusted provider of end-to-end, integrated engineering, quality services, and management consulting for digital transformation. We support businesses in navigating technological change to deliver innovative solutions that enhance competitive advantage and improve lives globally.

As part of our growth in flight controls, we are seeking a Software Development Engineer specialising in modelling, simulation, and Verification & Validation (V&V) to support the development of next-generation electric rotorcraft (eVTOL) platforms.

This role focuses on aircraft modelling in MATLAB/Simulink, supporting flight simulation, system validation, and certification activities. You will ensure models accurately represent aircraft behaviour, supporting design decisions, verification, and validation throughout the programme lifecycle.

This is a hybrid opportunity based in Bristol, offering a chance to drive cutting-edge aerospace innovation at the intersection of software engineering, systems modelling, and real-world test correlation.

### Responsibilities

You will:

  • Develop and maintain aircraft and system models in MATLAB/Simulink to support simulation and analysis activities
  • Support Flight Simulation Training Device (FSTD) environments, ensuring models meet fidelity and certification requirements
  • Contribute to aircraft-level verification and validation, using modelling and simulation techniques
  • Develop and integrate models into simulation frameworks and toolchains, enabling cross-disciplinary use
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for model development, testing, and deployment
  • Perform data processing and analysis, comparing simulation, ground test, and flight test results
  • Develop automation tools and scripts to streamline analysis, comparison, and reporting workflows
  • Correlate simulation results with real-world test data, identifying discrepancies and enhancing model fidelity
  • Collaborate with systems, safety, and test engineers to ensure models reflect system behaviour and requirements
  • Support test campaigns, including preparation, analysis, and model validation using test data
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation, covering models, assumptions, validation results, and reports

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
