Role Description

CDSClear IT is the team behind the technology powering CDSClear – a critical clearing service within the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG). Our technology provides the core clearing and risk management platform functionality. The systems undergo change as part of projects with commercial, operational risk reduction, regulatory or infrastructure drivers.

We are looking for a highly skilled Engineering Manager to manage development efforts for CDSClear's Clearing Platform and lead a team of Engineers based in London. In this role, you will manage the development of software components handling market connectivity, trade registration, trade life-cyling and reporting. You will work closely the broader development team covering Risk and External Portal components as well the QA and IT Support areas. The role provides an opportunity to partner with the CDSClear business stakeholders to take the platform and business through the next stage of business develpoment. We would like you to leverage automation and new innovations in AI tooling to enhance quality and time-to-market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development Management of Trade Management Engineering and related functions.
  • Lead the engineering of CDSClear’s clearing platform with functions including external market connectivity, trade registration, life-cycling and reporting.
  • People Leader with direct management responsibility of London based team members.
  • Collaborate with Risk Development, QA, IT Support and other colleagues to deliver high quality end-to-end solutions.
  • Engage with projects during full SDLC and take ownership for delivery of high quality solutions through to production.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement across the IT stack to address defects, improve delivery productivity and iteratively modernise the overall platform
  • Face-off to Stakeholders – Business Transformation, Product, Risk, Operations, Customer Success Management, Engineering Architecture, Compliance and Second Line Risk, - to understand business requirements, design solutions and deliver high impact production change.
  • Manage third-line support of Production and Test systems.

Candidate Profile / Key Skills

  • System design knowledge applicable to Derivative Trade Capture or Front‑to‑Back processing systems or similar. Will need to be able to lead all aspects of the engineering of external connectivity and protocol implementation (FpML workflows), trade life-cycling functions, data quality controls, retention strategies and Member, Client and Regulatory reporting solutions.
  • Lead, coached and developed Engineering staff in business aligned teams.
  • Engineering of a Java / Oracle technology stack in a Financial Services environment.
  • Appreciation of DevOps tools and technologies such as GitLab, Ansible, Terraform and Helm.
  • Demonstrated ability to maximise automated test tooling.
  • Solid understanding of Engineering Principles and Industry Good Practice applicable to Financial Markets Infrastructure.
  • Delivery management of multi-person and multi-month initiatives following plans agreed with business stakeholders.
  • Able to develop a vision for system improvement to be executed in iterations over multiple years.
  • Strong verbal and written English skills.

It would help us if you have:

  • Knowledge of Credit Derivative Trade Capture and Life-cycling as well as knowledge of Derivative Clearing.
  • Embraced AI development tools in a team environment to successfully accelerate development and/or improve quality of output.
  • AWS Cloud Architecture experience.
  • Knowledge of market risk reporting will be useful.
