Software Development Manager
Are you a Software Development Manager who enjoys building high-performing teams rather than spending your time writing code?
We're partnering with a well-established SaaS organisation that is investing heavily in its engineering function and looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to lead a talented team through the next phase of growth.
This is a people-first leadership role where you'll focus on coaching engineers, improving delivery, driving engineering best practice and creating an environment where teams can perform at their best. While an understanding of modern software engineering is important, this is not a hands-on coding position.
What you'll be doing
- Leading, mentoring and developing a team of Software Engineers.
- Driving a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Working closely with Product, Architecture and Delivery teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Improving engineering processes, Agile ways of working and software delivery practices.
- Supporting recruitment, performance management, career development and succession planning.
- Encouraging high-quality engineering standards including code reviews, testing and technical best practice.
- Helping shape the future direction of the engineering function.

We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience as an Engineering Manager, Software Development Manager or similar.
- A strong background leading software engineering teams.
- Excellent people management and coaching skills.
- Experience delivering software within Agile environments.
- The confidence to work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A technical background in software engineering (ideally Microsoft technologies such as C#/.NET), although this is no longer a hands-on development role.
- Experience driving engineering improvements, delivery processes and team performance.
- Exposure to Azure, DevOps practices or modern AI tooling would be beneficial but isn't essential.
