About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop and refine our full-stack applications, ensuring seamless booking journeys for our customers across Hotels, gourmet experiences, and Days Out. You’ll play a pivotal role in building, optimising, and maintaining technology that helps UK customers discover, book, and savour unforgettable moments—all while working with cutting-edge technologies and thriving teams.

Projecting beyond bare functionality, this role is for someone passionate about solving technical challenges, driving meaningful solutions, and adding value to millions of users. Collaboration is key; expect opportunities to influence engineering direction alongside product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, high-performance software solutions to enhance our online booking journeys and customer experience.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align technical work with business goals and deliver high-impact features.
  • Shape technical architecture, champion best practices in code quality and system reliability, and drive continuous improvement across engineering practices.
  • Develop reusable, maintainable code, including APIs, microservices, and frontend components.
  • Lead technical discussions, contribute to scalable database solutions, and ensure system observability through monitoring tools like Application Insights.
  • Participate in pair programming, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing to uphold engineering excellence.
  • Innovate with new tools and automation where they improve efficiency, reliability, or developer experience.
  • Champion DevOps and CI/CD best practices to streamline deployments.

About You

Essential

✅ 3+ years’ commercial experience building full-stack applications in a modern, Agile engineering environment. ✅ Proven expertise with TypeScript, .NET Core, and subsequent technologies, most likely from the following stack:

  • Frontend: React, MobX, Storybook
  • Backend: .NET, Azure Functions, C#
  • Cloud/DevOps: Azure, Azure DevOps (CI/CD), SQL Server, Azure Table Storage ✅ Hands-on experience in dual-layer development (frontend + backend) with a diligence for clean, distributed systems architecture. ✅ Pragmatic problem-solving skills and a growth mindset—getting excited by challenges, experimenting in crowds, and refining practices. ✅ Strong communication abilities to translate technical concepts clearly to non-engineers. ✅ Commitment to collaborative environments, writing well-tested, modular code, and contributing meaningfully to engineering culture.

Nice to Have

🔹 Static typing experience with TypeScript, familiarity with Entity Framework and DDD 🔹 Previous exposure to gifting, retail, or e-commerce industries, especially SaaS or B2B platforms 🔹 AWS experience if interested in migration or hybrid cloud environments 🔹 Leadership in engineering mentorship, technical committees, or specialised team strands

  • Backend: .NET Core, Azure Functions for serverless capabilities, AWS (selective)
  • Cloud: Microsoft Azure (hosting, servers, Azure Storage)
  • Storage: Azure Sql DB, Cosmos DB (table/indexing patterns)
  • CI/CD: Azure pipelines, Linux-based deployments
  • Testing: Automated suite coverage (unit, integration, E2E testing; Postman testing), CI pipelines
  • Observability: Application Insights, dashboards, Synthetics monitoring
  • Tools: Visual Studio & VS Code, SonarQube (code maintenance)
  • Networking: Resilience, observability, request retry logic in microservices
  • Team practises: Agile processes, technical debt reduction, cloud governance
