Backend / Data Engineer | London Hybrid | £130k + EMI Equity 🚀

Most senior engineers we speak to are good at their job, enjoy the work, but feel like they're a few layers removed from anything that actually matters. Tickets come in, tickets go out. The architecture decisions get made above them. The equity is underwater or non-existent.

This is the opposite of that.

A pre-seed AI company founded by executives from some of Europe's best known fintech unicorns, backed by top-tier global VCs is hiring the engineer who owns their entire data and infrastructure platform. Not a slice of it. All of it.

The product is genuinely ambitious. An AI-native operating system that learns how humans make decisions and uses that to coordinate AI agents across every tool a business runs on. The data layer is what makes it work and right now there's no one who owns it end to end. That's the gap you're filling.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You sit between the data and the AI engineers. You design the architecture, you own the AWS platform, you decide how data moves, transforms, gets stored and retrieved across relational, vector, document, object and blob stores. You set the foundations the whole product is built on. As you perform, the scope grows.

The setup:

  • 9 engineers, no PMs, no product owners, flat structure
  • Daily standups, direct access to the co-founders
  • High autonomy, high accountability
  • Nobody to hide behind and nobody slowing you down
