Research Engineer (AI) – Partnering with a Pioneering Technology Company

Aquent is partnering with a groundbreaking artificial intelligence leader that is driving transformative advances in AI technology. This cutting-edge organisation is seeking visionary Research Engineers to join their core AI research team, working on projects that push the boundaries of human-level intelligence and redefine human-computer interaction.

In this critical role, you’ll be more than a contributor—you’ll shape the future of AI. You’ll tackle complex systems challenges, contribute to groundbreaking research, and see your work implemented at unprecedented scale, directly influencing cutting-edge product development and setting new industry benchmarks.

As a Research Engineer, your focus will be advancing the science and engineering of machine learning systems, with a particular emphasis on large language models. This opportunity provides a unique chance to collaborate with world-class researchers and cross-functional partners, translating research into impactful product advancements that shape the company’s strategic direction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct cutting-edge research to push the state of the art in machine learning systems.
  • Design, develop, and implement novel methods, tools, and infrastructure in large language models.
  • Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional teams to communicate research plans, progress, and results.
  • Propose, gather, and synthesise requirements for an evolving feature roadmap.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality code in collaboration with the engineering team.
  • Publish research findings that significantly impact product development and industry standards.

Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Machine learning
    • Recommendation systems
    • Pattern recognition
    • Data mining
    • Artificial intelligence
  • Experience developing machine learning models at scale, including programmatic interaction with and post-training of large language models.
  • Strong Python programming skills with hands-on experience using frameworks like PyTorch.
  • Ability to execute complex experiments involving large AI models and datasets.
  • Demonstrated capacity to translate technical insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field (or equivalent practical experience).

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Direct experience in generative AI and large language model research.
  • A PhD or research-focused Master’s degree in machine learning-related fields.
