Job Opportunity: Software Engineer
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer based in United Kingdom.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and improvement of innovative software solutions in a collaborative engineering environment.
You will work across the full software development lifecycle, creating reliable, scalable, and efficient applications that support business needs.
The position focuses on building high-quality backend systems, developing APIs, and improving existing architectures through modern engineering practices.
You will collaborate with experienced developers through iterative development, code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Accountabilities
The Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software solutions while contributing to technical improvements across the product lifecycle. The role requires strong engineering practices, attention to quality, and collaboration with development teams to deliver scalable and reliable systems.
- Develop new software capabilities and improve existing system architectures to support product evolution.
- Design, implement, and maintain efficient middle-end and back-end solutions using modern development practices.
- Build scalable and robust services that meet performance, reliability, and business requirements.
- Develop and maintain internal and external APIs, ensuring quality and usability.
- Participate in test-driven and iterative development processes, including prototyping and technical reviews.
- Create and execute unit tests and performance tests to ensure application stability and scalability.
- Review, debug, and optimize code to maintain high-quality software standards.
- Produce technical documentation, diagrams, flowcharts, and code explanations to support knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to system design decisions, technical specifications, and implementation strategies.
- Collaborate with other developers to continuously improve development processes and engineering practices.

Requirements
The ideal candidate is a motivated software engineer with experience developing backend applications and a strong foundation in Java-based technologies. You should have a passion for building reliable software, learning new technologies, and collaborating effectively within an engineering team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 1 to 3 years of professional experience in software engineering or a similar development role.
- Experience developing server-side web applications using Java.
- Experience building Java web services and public APIs, including REST or SOAP services.
- Knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
- Familiarity with Java frameworks, software architecture, and design patterns.
- Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies and development approaches.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams.
