Senior Software Engineer – AI-Driven Healthtech (Manchester, Hybrid)
£70,000–£75,000 + benefits | 3 days in office
I’m working with a Manchester-based healthtech scale-up building web and mobile products that use LLMs at the core of the platform, not as a side experiment. They’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is strong on the backend/cloud side and genuinely excited about designing and running LLM-based systems in production.
You’ll work closely with product, clinicians and other engineers to:
- Design and build LLM-backed features (chatbots, RAG pipelines, AI tools) and the common stack that sits between users and LLMs.
- Own backend services and APIs across a mixed environment (TypeScript/Node, Python, Java, C#, PHP).
- Ship to and run systems on AWS/Azure/GCP, with CI/CD and containerisation.
- Help evolve event-driven and cloud-native architecture, with a strong focus on observability, safety and scaling of AI features.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
They’re looking for:
- Deep strength in at least one of TypeScript, Python, Java, C# or PHP, plus a modern backend framework (Node, Django, Spring Boot, .NET, etc.).
- Real-world experience productionising LLM-based systems (chatbots, RAG, or similar – not just “using Copilot/ChatGPT”).
- Solid cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP), APIs, databases, and testing.
- Clear, concise communication and a genuine appetite for 3 days a week in a central Manchester office.
