Software Engineer – Cyber Security
Salary: £65,000 - £80,000
Location: London (5 days on site)
You must be a Sole British Passport Holder to be eligible for this role
Working as part of a collaborative team, you'll contribute to the development of high-assurance software solutions that support critical security and technology programmes. This role offers the chance to work across a broad range of platforms, programming languages, and emerging technologies in an environment that values innovation, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain robust software solutions using industry best practices.
- Deliver high-quality code while considering security throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex technical challenges.
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring of junior engineers.
- Apply modern software engineering practices, including continuous integration, automated testing, and version control.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their potential benefits and security implications.
- Identify security weaknesses during design and implementation and recommend effective mitigations.
- Produce clear technical documentation to support development and delivery.

What We're Looking For
- Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language such as C++, Java, or C#.
- Experience with at least one scripting or utility language such as Python, JavaScript, Perl, or PowerShell.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles and development best practices.
- Familiarity with development tools including IDEs, debuggers, source control systems, and automated testing frameworks.
- Experience with unit testing, mocking, continuous integration, or test-driven development.
- Good understanding of operating systems and the ability to work across multiple platforms.
- Knowledge of core computing concepts, including memory management and compiled versus interpreted languages.
- An interest in secure software development and the importance of protecting critical systems.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
