Software Engineer

At Via, we're supporting a fast-growing technology business that's building one of the world's most exciting real-time digital platforms. They're looking for an experienced Software Engineer (.NET / C#) to join a high-performing engineering team developing large-scale, event-driven systems.

This is an opportunity to work on highly available, cloud-native applications that serve millions of users, solving complex engineering challenges alongside talented Product, Data and Engineering teams.

Salary: £70,000–£90,000 + bonus + equity + excellent benefits Location: Remote (UK & Ireland) or Hybrid (Leeds)

The Opportunity

You'll join a collaborative engineering team building scalable backend services in a modern cloud environment. From technical design through deployment and ongoing optimisation, you'll have ownership of the software you build and play an active role in shaping the platform's future. Working within an event-driven architecture, you'll contribute to the development of resilient, high-performance applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver new features and continuously improve the customer experience. If you enjoy solving complex technical problems, writing high-quality code, and working in a fast-paced product-led environment, this role offers genuine opportunity to make an impact.

What You'll Be Doing

Software Engineering

  • Design, build and maintain scalable backend applications using C# and .NET
  • Develop secure, reliable and high-performance software within an event-driven architecture
  • Write clean, testable and maintainable code following engineering best practices
  • Contribute to technical design, architecture discussions and code reviews

Cloud & Platform Engineering

  • Build cloud-native applications in a modern engineering environment
  • Improve system scalability, reliability and operational performance
  • Monitor production services and contribute to continuous platform improvements
  • Participate in on-call support and incident resolution when required

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work closely with Product, Engineering and Data teams to deliver new features
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, from design through deployment
  • Help improve software quality through testing, documentation and continuous improvement initiatives

Team & Technical Growth

  • Share knowledge through mentoring and collaborative engineering practices
  • Participate in planning sessions and technical discussions
  • Help drive engineering standards across the team
  • Continuously develop your understanding of the product, customers and industry

What They're Looking For

  • Commercial experience building backend applications with C# and .NET
  • Experience developing scalable, high-performance software in production environments
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure experience is beneficial)
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles including SOLID, DRY and Test-Driven Development
  • Experience working with event-driven or distributed systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Passion for clean code, software architecture and continuous improvement

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
  • Experience working within fast-growing product or technology businesses
  • Exposure to highly scalable distributed systems
