About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer with deep expertise in Fluent Order Management System (OMS) to join our transformative retail engineering team. This pivotal role involves designing, optimizing, and maintaining complex workflows, rulesets, event flows, and integrations that underpin scalable and reliable Order Management solutions. As a technical leader, you will take ownership of Low-Level Design (LLD), influence High-Level Design (HLD), and provide mentorship across your squad. Your hands-on approach will drive innovation, solve complex technical challenges, and deliver high-impact solutions that support our growth and operational excellence. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of retail technology within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, based in London (Paddington) with a flexible work model requiring four days in the office per month.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in software engineering, with a focus on order management systems or related retail technology platforms
  • Deep expertise in Fluent OMS or similar complex workflow management solutions
  • Strong proficiency in designing scalable, reliable, and high-performance software solutions
  • Experience in Low-Level Design (LLD) and influencing High-Level Design (HLD)
  • Leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and coaching engineering teams
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Strong communication skills, capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels
  • Knowledge of software architecture, quality practices, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and collaborative development environments
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a dynamic environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation
  • Lead the design and delivery of complex, scalable solutions in collaboration with engineering leads, architects, and product teams
  • Develop and review Low-Level Designs (LLD), ensuring alignment with architectural standards and business requirements
  • Influence High-Level Design (HLD) decisions to ensure system robustness and scalability
  • Champion engineering best practices, code quality, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development of engineering talent
  • Promote knowledge sharing through documentation, technical forums, and cross-team collaboration
  • Engage with stakeholders across business and engineering functions to ensure strategic alignment and successful project delivery
  • Drive innovation by experimenting with emerging technologies and fostering a culture of continuous learning
  • Address complex technical challenges proactively, delivering high-quality and reliable solutions
