Job Title
We are looking for mid-senior Software Engineers with experience in Golang, Java or Python to join a rapidly growing engineering team in Farnborough. You will help design and deliver secure digital solutions that support Defence and National Security missions, working on complex technical challenges where reliability, security and operational impact matter. Permanent role, salary up to £75,000 plus benefits with flexible, hybrid working from Farnborough.
About the role
You will join a multidisciplinary team of software engineers, architects, platform specialists, infrastructure engineers and delivery professionals.
The role covers the full software development lifecycle, from technical design and development through to testing, deployment and continuous improvement. Golang is of particular interest, although strong engineers with experience in Java, C#, C++, Rust or Python will also be considered where they can confidently discuss the differences between technologies and how systems written in different languages integrate.
This is a customer-facing position, so you should be comfortable working directly with stakeholders as well as contributing technically.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain secure, scalable software solutions
- Build backend services using Go, Java, Python or other relevant languages
- Develop responsive user interfaces using JavaScript, TypeScript and React
- Implement cloud services across AWS or Azure
- Use Git to support effective version control and collaborative development
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated testing processes
- Use Docker to create consistent and reliable deployment environments
- Write clean, efficient and well-documented code whilst participating in code reviews
- Mentor and support other engineers where appropriate, providing constructive technical feedback
- Keep up to date with emerging software engineering tools and practices

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
