This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer based in United Kingdom.
Join a mission-driven engineering team building the software infrastructure that powers the future of clean energy. In this role, you'll develop scalable backend systems that connect energy providers with electric vehicles, home energy devices, and other smart technologies at scale. Working closely with product managers, engineers, and customer-facing teams, you'll help deliver reliable solutions that support real-world energy use cases. You'll have the opportunity to solve complex integration challenges, contribute to modern cloud-based systems, and grow your technical expertise in a collaborative, remote-first environment. This is an exciting opportunity for engineers who are passionate about building impactful technology that accelerates the global energy transition.
Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend integrations with third-party platforms supporting electric vehicle charging and home energy systems.
- Build scalable, production-ready backend features that address customer needs and enhance platform capabilities.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Support, Commercial, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Improve and maintain cloud-based backend services using modern development practices and scalable architectures.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues while continuously improving system reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Take ownership of assigned projects, learning new systems, APIs, and technologies through experimentation and modern engineering tools.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decisions while promoting engineering excellence and long-term code quality.

Requirements
- Professional experience developing and maintaining backend services in production environments.
- Strong understanding of backend engineering principles, including scalability, reliability, performance optimization, and distributed systems.
- Experience working with APIs, third-party integrations, or interconnected software platforms.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to learning unfamiliar technologies and navigating technical ambiguity.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Product-focused mindset with a passion for solving real customer problems through high-quality software.
- Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, or comparable backend technologies is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, IoT platforms, energy technology, connected devices, or API-first architectures is considered an advantage.
- Exposure to operating production systems, including monitoring or on-call responsibilities, is a plus.
