Software Engineer

Location: Wotton under Edge
Salary: up to £42,000 depending on experience
Type: Hybrid (2 office based days per week)

Renishaw is a global leader in the design and development of inspection probe technology and metrology systems. Due to organizational growth, we are recruiting a Software Engineer to join the laser and calibration products division (LCPD) at our HQ in Wotton-under-Edge.

You may be a recent graduate or an engineer with a few years’ experience wishing to develop your career. You'll be part of our laser and calibration software team, working with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices and collaborative software engineering tools. You'll be given the chance to impart your knowledge and be part of a small team of engineers, interfacing with new product, current product and manufacturing teams where necessary. Our software is principally developed using.NET technologies, including.NET WPF desktop applications (C#, XAML) and .NET MAUI mobile applications.

You'll contribute to both customer-facing software and internal engineering applications, gaining domain knowledge while developing your technical capability in a structured and supportive environment.

Our products and services are used in applications as diverse as the automotive and aerospace industries to military and consumer electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain features for desktop (WPF) and mobile (MAUI) applications.
  • Contribute to both customer-facing applications and internal engineering tools.
  • Implement unit, behavioural and UI tests in line with established practices.
  • Applies established patterns (e.g. MVVM), coding standards, and team processes.
  • Participate in code review and design discussions (supporting more senior engineers).
  • Work closely with colleagues in a multi-disciplinary team, seeking guidance where required.
  • Collaborate as part of an Agile software team, contributing to sprint activities.
  • Understand requirements and implement defined solutions using established approaches and guidance from senior engineers, project and product managers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
