About the Role
The Staff Engineer is a senior individual contributor responsible for providing technical leadership across multiple engineering squads. Rather than managing people, the role focuses on influencing technical strategy, improving engineering standards, guiding architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and enabling teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-quality software solutions. Working closely with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and software engineers, the Staff Engineer helps align technology investments with business objectives while driving engineering excellence across the organization.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Lead Engineer, or similar senior technical leadership role.
- Extensive experience designing software architecture in cloud-native environments.
- Strong expertise with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of scalable production systems.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience mentoring software engineers and improving engineering practices.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to balance technical and business priorities.

Requirements
- Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering squads.
- Lead architectural design and system engineering decisions.
- Drive cross-team technical initiatives and ensure successful delivery.
- Partner with Product Managers and Engineering Managers to develop technical solutions.
- Contribute to solution design, coding, technical planning, and code reviews.
- Improve software quality, reliability, developer experience, and operational excellence.
- Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices.
- Support adoption of AI-assisted development tools and reusable engineering patterns.
- Balance scalability, maintainability, performance, and cost when designing solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technology with business goals.
