Location & Salary
- Location: Hybrid (Stafford HQ 1–2 days/week, remote the rest)
- Salary: £42,500–£55k (depending on experience, 5+ years preferable) + EMI share options

About the Role
You’ll be one of the engineers driving our client builds, platform development, and internal tools. Your work will include:
- Building and refining backend systems for client projects from concept to delivery.
- Assisting in the design and development of Orbit, our core AI-powered automation platform.
- Creating internal tools to improve efficiency across engineering and development workflows.
- Working with AI, integrating LLMs (e.g. OpenAI, Claude) into production systems—handling retries, rate limiting, structured outputs, and human-in-the-loop oversight.
- Transitioning AI prototypes into production-ready systems with rigorous testing, security, and GDPR compliance.
- _securing AI environments_ for structured workflows using Claude for Platforms and Claude Code for rapid, AI-assisted development.
- Building and connecting agent workflows to client tools like email, CRM, Slack.
- Managing Stripe payments and monitoring transactions via the Stripe dashboard.
- Operating infrastructure across Cloudflare (DNS, security, R2, DNS, SSL) and AWS (Lightsail, SES) with Twilio for messaging.

What You’ll Do
- Develop production-grade backend systems for bespoke client work.
- Help design and ship features on the Orbit platform.
- Create automation and efficiency tools for engineering teams.
- Design secure, compliant AI systems—integrating copilot applications for video and voice.
- Implement end-to-end SSL/TLS, encryption and ensure UK GDPR compliance.
- Maintain codebase integrity via Git/GitHub workflows.
What You Bring
Core Requirements
- Full-stack backend expertise (prioritise one stack: PHP/MySQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python).
- Production-ready deployment experience with CI/CD tools.
- Fluency in APIs, databases, and event-driven architectures (queues, retries).
- AI/model application experience—you’ve built with LLMs before or are excited to do deep work here.
- Prompt engineering, retrieval systems, and LLM failure-mode handling.
- Technical leadership—challenging choices and justifying tradeoffs.
- Collaborative mindset—eager to mentor, be mentored, and build in a small team.
- Translation skills—explaining tech solutions in business terms.

Nice-to-Haves (Bonus Points)
- Experience with React Native (TypeScript) or custom WordPress themes/plugins (enterprise-scale).
- E-commerce knowledge (WooCommerce builds).
- Familiarity with Sentry.io, n8n, Make automation tools, or SEO principles.

You’ll leverage a mix of:
- Core tech: PHP/MySQL, JS/TypeScript, Python.
- AI: OpenAI/ChatGPT APIs, Claude for Platforms, Claude Code, ElevenLabs, vector databases.
- Platforms: AWS Lightsail/SES, Cloudflare (DNS, security, storage), Twilio, Stripe.
- Tools: Git & GitHub, Sentry, WooCommerce/WordPress (developments).
- Security: UK GDPR, encryption, TLS.
