Job Opportunity

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer - (Connect Platform) based in United Kingdom.

This role offers the opportunity to build software that supports the transition toward a smarter, more flexible energy ecosystem.

About the Role

As a Software Engineer on the Connect Platform team, you will:

  • Develop and improve the technology that enables reliable communication between energy devices and digital services.
  • Work on backend systems, API integrations, automation, and platform improvements that directly impact customers and partners worldwide.
  • Combine product-focused engineering, distributed systems, and reliability improvements within a fast-growing climate technology environment.
  • Collaborate with engineers across teams while taking ownership of meaningful technical challenges and scalable solutions.

Accountabilities

  • Build and maintain reliable API integrations with energy device manufacturers, including EV chargers, vehicles, and other connected hardware platforms.
  • Improve the connectivity platform by enhancing reliability, scalability, observability, and overall system performance.
  • Develop backend features and product-level platform improvements that enable seamless device connectivity for customers.
  • Create automation tools and internal solutions that improve integration monitoring, testing, troubleshooting, and operational efficiency.
  • Strengthen monitoring, alerting, and reliability practices to reduce incidents and improve platform resilience.
  • Contribute to defining and improving service-level objectives, operational processes, and engineering best practices.
  • Debug complex technical issues and implement long-term solutions that prevent recurring problems.
  • Participate in technical discussions to align platform priorities with customer and product needs.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers across teams, sharing knowledge and contributing to a supportive engineering culture.
  • Use modern engineering tools, including AI-powered development tools, to improve productivity and solve technical challenges effectively.

Requirements

  • Experience building maintainable, testable backend software, ideally with API development or integration-focused systems.
  • Strong interest in product-focused platform engineering, particularly building systems that connect applications, services, and devices.
  • Experience working with JavaScript or TypeScript, or strong willingness to develop expertise in TypeScript.
  • Understanding of distributed systems and experience working with scalable backend architectures.
  • Ability to improve existing systems through debugging, automation, monitoring, and reliability enhancements.
  • Comfortable working with technologies such as Node.js, React, AWS, Docker, PostgreSQL, and infrastructure configuration tools.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to investigate complex technical issues systematically.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within distributed teams.
  • Proactive, curious, and growth-oriented approach with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Interest in climate technology, energy systems, and using software to create meaningful real-world impact.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering workflows and willingness to integrate AI tools into daily development practices.
