Job Description

MBDA produces some of the most advanced missile systems in the world, that are in service in multiple active theatres. We are looking for highly capable DDS Developer to join our team at our Bristol facility to support the development of our Air Defence products whilst maintaining our enviable reputation for safety, performance, and dependability.

Salary: Up to £70,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 4 - 5 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

This is a software design role supporting the continued design and development, within the framework of a common product line, of our CORE communications data model. This is crucial to maintain the technical lead in Air Defence products. This role includes involvement in all aspects of the development.

You will work closely with the Software Architect and Software Project Leaders in providing key technologies and technical support into our high-performing teams. You will also be operating at Weapon System and Sub-System level in negotiations as to the overall architecture and underpinning data models that support optimal internal inter-component and external subsystem communication to deliver significant capabilities to our customers. Acting as a role model to both the team and the wider organization by pro-actively leading innovative approaches to deliver and exceed customer expectations whilst ensuring our strong commitment to safe, high-quality code is maintained.

What We're Looking For

This is a highly technical and hands-on role specifically looking at:

  • Support and advise at weapons systems architecture and design levels
  • Sub-system command and control definition and design
  • Design and construct IDL at weapons system level and sub-system level
  • Own and develop sub-system component templates and design patterns
  • Advise and mentor sub-system developers
  • Advanced data analysis and data design experience
  • Technically lead the CORE development and technologies that support components, sub-systems, and weapons systems.
