Job Title: Software Engineer – ETD Middle Office (Java/Python, FIS, Cloud)
Location: London (Hybrid – 3 days per week onsite)
Duration: 12 Months+
Rate: 650 GBP/Day Inside IR35
Description
We're looking for a Software Engineer – ETD Middle Office (Java/Python, FIS, Cloud) to join our team in London, UK in hybrid working mode. You will design, build, and optimize enterprise-scale clearing platforms supporting ETD middle office operations. This role involves implementing solutions using Java Spring, Python, and cloud technologies, with emphasis on FIS CD Trade Clearing systems, process automation, and integration of market-critical functionalities. The position requires strong technical capability, adherence to SDLC standards, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders to ensure timely, secure, and compliant delivery.
Responsibilities
- Deliver robust technology solutions for ETD middle office clearing functions, integrating with systems like FIS CD Trade Clearing
- Analyze business requirements and convert them into scalable, maintainable solutions aligned with banking and regulatory compliance standards
- Design and develop applications using Java and Python, with hands-on experience in Spring Core and Spring Boot frameworks
- Apply security-aware coding and test-driven development (TDD) approaches to guarantee maintainability and integrity
- Implement automation scripts using PowerShell/Bash for configuration and operational efficiency
- Contribute to application design, leveraging Azure cloud, Kubernetes orchestration, and IaC solutions (e.g., Terraform)
- Conduct code reviews, implement CI/CD pipelines, and enforce operational and risk-control processes before production release
- Work collaboratively with product owners, QA, and architects to ensure delivery quality within agile teams

Requirements (Must Have Skills)
- Proven experience in Java Spring development (Spring Core and Spring Boot)
- Strong understanding of FIS CD Trade Clearing application or comparable middle office trading solutions
- In-depth knowledge of software development lifecycle, CI/CD (GitLab), and secure development practices
- Hands-on experience building scalable systems using Java and Python
- Familiarity with financial services environments, high-performance computing, and compliance frameworks
- Solid grasp of cloud-native engineering (Azure, Kubernetes)

- Bash and PowerShell scripting for automation and operational tasks
- Familiarity with test-driven development (TDD) principles and frameworks
