Software Engineer – Membership & Payments Platform
(Remote – UK, primarily based at Newcastle office when in-person)
Xplor Technologies (Powers the experiences at the heart of everyday life in fitness, recreation, golf, club operations, and service-based industries)
About the Opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our team building a well-established payments and subscription platform rooted in modern vertical software, embedded payments, and AI-powered capabilities.
This role falls under a broad Microsoft technology stack with opportunities in platform modernisation, architecture design, and CI/CD automation. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you’ll work across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), balancing cutting-edge development with operational support, while shaping engineering practices, scalability, and long-term system health.
The team blends legacy systems (with modernisation in progress) and cutting-edge tech, giving you real agency to influence execution. If you enjoy solving high-impact technical challenges, sharing knowledge with cross-functional teams, and iterating on platform quality, this is an exciting environment for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
✔ Full-cycle development & maintenance:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance applications in the Microsoft.NET / .NET Core and C# stack.
- Work with SQL Server (queries, stored procedures) alongside legacy(end-of-life components).
- Support API design and backend services (RESTful, ideally microservices architecture).
✔ Frontend engagement (part-time):
- Contribute to development in Angular for platform interfaces.
✔ Problem-solving & debugging:
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve defects and production incidents.
- Root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues—propose sustainable fixes, not ad-hoc workarounds.
- Advise on architectural improvements, service decomposition, and system scalability.
✔ Modernisation & cloud operations:
- Guide platform-scale modernisation (e.g. migrating away from legacy tech).
- Lead efforts to improve service decomposition and cloud-native patterns on AWS.
- Design CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and monitor cloud-hosted environments.
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

✔ Quality-first mindset:
- Enforce unit, integration, system, and performance testing where applicable.
- Embed automated QA into the workflow.
✔ Community & collaboration:
- Act as a subject-matter expert (informally or in new hires).

- Adjust workflows to statically reduce rework and bottlenecks.
- Occasionally support on-call for critical incidents (out-of-hours).
✔ Veteran engagement:
