Software Engineer III, Google Play Protect (Android)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree
  • 2 years of experience with Android application development

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms
  • Experience developing accessible technologies
  • Experience in Machine Learning
  • Experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging)

As a software engineer, you will:

  • Work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs
  • Have opportunities to switch teams and projects alongside our fast-paced business growth
  • Address versatile technical challenges and drive innovation across full-stack environments

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google’s computing software platforms across environments such as desktop and mobile, applications, and services blending AI, Google’s hardware, and software. Teams within this area research, design, and develop new technologies to enrich user-computing interactions globally, delivering seamless and intelligent experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to identify optimal technologies.
  • Review code developed by others, offering feedback on adherence to best practices (e.g., style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute and update existing documentation or educational content based on product and program updates, user feedback.
  • Triage product/system issues, debug and resolve by analyzing root causes and impact on hardware, networks, or service performance.
