About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to join our Product, Design, Engineering & Global Operations (PDEGO) team within our King’s Cross office in London. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the development of our Pub Admin product, a unified, modern rights and royalty platform that simplifies complex domains into scalable, high-performance solutions for Sony Music’s global songwriting community. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build innovative products that empower artists and record labels worldwide, ensuring the delivery of robust, high-quality user experiences. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the technical vision, driving architectural decisions, and mentoring junior engineers, all while championing the adoption of AI-powered tools to accelerate development cycles and deliver innovative features.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- Proven experience implementing distributed systems.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and JavaScript.
- Experience building frontend applications using TypeScript, React, and GraphQL.
- Knowledge of various database technologies including Neo4j, Kafka, MySQL, Snowflake, and OpenSearch.
- Familiarity with low-latency techniques to improve page load times and system reliability.
- Experience working with microservices, APIs, and standards such as REST, HTTP, and OAuth.
- Comfortable working with AWS Cloud technologies.
- Experience utilizing log analysis for bug investigation and performance optimization.
- Proficiency in writing unit and integration tests.
- Experience working within an agile development environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach to challenges.
- Prior experience with data modeling, schema design, and machine learning deployment at scale is a plus.

Responsibilities
- Lead the development and enhancement of our Pub Admin platform, ensuring it meets scalability, performance, and security standards.
- Collaborate with product management and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Design, communicate, and execute a compelling technical vision aligned with business goals.
- Participate in architectural decisions, system re‑architecture, and technical design reviews.
- Implement and promote best practices in coding, testing, and documentation across the engineering team.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Champion the adoption of AI-driven tools and features to enhance product capabilities and development efficiency.
- Contribute to data modeling, schema design, and optimization of data structures for real-world use cases.
- Utilize log analysis and performance metrics to troubleshoot issues and improve system reliability.
- Support the deployment and release of machine learning models and other innovative features at scale.
