Software Engineer

Role: Software Tester

Location: Halifax

Work Pattern: Fully office based

Salary: £30,000–£50,000

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a detail-oriented and analytical Software Tester to join a growing engineering team working on technically challenging software projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability and performance of software products by working closely with developers and technical stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for quality assurance, a keen eye for detail, and a desire to help deliver robust, high-quality software.

The Software Tester will be responsible for planning, designing and executing a range of testing activities across web, mobile and API-based applications. They will identify defects, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help ensure software meets the highest quality standards before release.

  • Review requirements, specifications and technical documentation to provide valuable feedback from a testing perspective.
  • Create comprehensive test plans, test cases and testing documentation.
  • Execute functional, regression, integration, sanity and end-to-end testing across multiple platforms.
  • Identify, document and track software defects, providing clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence.
  • Work collaboratively with software engineers to investigate issues and ensure quality is embedded throughout the development process.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of QA processes, testing methodologies and post-release reviews.

Candidate Profile:

  • A strong understanding of software testing methodologies, including functional, regression, black-box, white-box and performance testing.
  • Experience using bug tracking and test management tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify edge cases and potential defects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and debugging.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • The successful candidate must be willing to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.
  • Applicants must hold British nationality.
