Senior Engineering Associate – Payments Platform at ASOS

About the Role
We seek a Senior Engineering Associate to join our Payments Platform Team, shaping cutting-edge systems that handle ASOS's transactional flow.
This role sits within the Technology team, where passionate engineers build world-class microservices architecture. You’ll support a team of driven agile teams whilst collaborating on complex solutions impacting millions of users. Scalability is key—our systems process up to 1 million orders per hour during peak events (e.g., Black Friday), so reliability and innovation are core to your impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in a cross-functional team to build and enhance Cloud-native distributed systems, ensuring seamless payments processing
- Also support services that leverage RESTful APIs, middleware, and event-driven architectures
- Achieve 99.99% uptime by diagnosing issues and mitigating disruptions
- Design high-quality, test-first infrastructure (covers automated deployment & monitoring enabling robust payment workflows)
- Collaborate with global teams to prioritise feature development while adhering to Agile/Scrum practices
- Strengthen our community culture by participating in brown-bag sessions, hackathons, and training workshops

What the Team Uses
- .NET & C# (latest versions)
- Azure DevOps for incident & CI/CD management
- Microsoft Azure (multi-region deployments & Infrastructure as Code)
- Software Craftsmanship principles (incl XP)
- SRE practices and/library monitoring tools
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Proven expertise in Agile, XP, microservices, and Test-First Development (TDD/ATDD/BDD) practices
- Experience designing cloud-native solutions that handle high-volume transactions
- Experience with REST APIs, Azure (or another major provider), and CI/CD flows in production-scale environments
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps/Kanban and its monitoring tools
