Software Engineer

Software Engineer

Location: London Pay: Up to £160,000 per annum, with very strong stock options Company: An AI startup spun out from an elite academic institution

About the Role

We’re looking to scale our growing software engineering team by midically hiring a Software Engineer to help expand and refine our systems. Combining niche domain expertise with AI, we explore research and innovation in the physical world—leading to highly complex, mission-driven work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary focus on backend engineering, but.scale horizontal development, taking ownership from the full software stack as needed
  • Build scalable, high-performance systems capable of handling real-world applications
  • Design and develop end-to-end features with measurable impact on customer value
  • Work with product and ML teams to translate complex ideas into viable software solutions
  • Lead key architectural decisions that shape the system’s future
  • Drive incremental improvements to infrastructure and efficiency
  • Mentor junior engineers and help scale the engineering team
  • Influence and lead the direction of the software function
