Job Description: PERL Developer

Giacom are the only provider of Comms, Cloud, Hardware and Billing all through one platform.

Our platform connects technology resellers and service providers to the best IT, Comms and Cloud products and services so they can create brilliant technology solutions for UK businesses.

We are currently recruiting for a PERL Developer who will be focused on building reliable and maintainable software. You will use your engineering knowledge to contribute to team delivery, solving problems at feature level and supporting business goals.

To be successful in this role, you will focus on delivering high-quality code within the team, while developing your technical expertise and aligning with engineering best practices.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and maintain software components based on defined requirements.
  • Contribute to system design discussions and implement solutions aligned with established architecture.
  • Responsible for L3 production support, ensuring timely resolution of defects in line with agreed SLAs.
  • Deliver assigned tasks within sprint timelines, ensuring quality and reliability.
  • Follow coding standards, guidelines, and best practices defined by the team.
  • Work closely with team members and stakeholders to clarify requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Ensure code meets basic performance and reliability expectations.
  • Identify potential issues and escalate risks when necessary.
  • Support deployment and integration activities in collaboration with other teams.
  • Actively learn and adopt new practices to improve development efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in supported areas of the system.
  • Provide updates on assigned work and raise blockers in a timely manner.
  • Follow established security and compliance practices.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in developing software applications in PERL
  • Basic understanding of backend systems, APIs, and data handling
  • Experience working on web-based applications
  • Ability to deliver tasks independently with guidance when needed
  • Experience working within a development team
  • Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to manage assigned work within deadlines
