Software Engineer, Platform
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer, Platform based in United Kingdom.
This platform engineering role is focused on building the backend infrastructure that powers products used by millions of users worldwide.
You will develop scalable services and APIs that support core platform capabilities, including authentication, payments, subscriptions, analytics, and text-to-speech technologies.
Working in a fully distributed engineering organization, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performance backend systems.
The role combines hands-on software engineering with architectural thinking, offering opportunities to influence technical decisions and platform evolution.
You will help create enterprise-grade solutions while ensuring backend services remain secure, scalable, and easy to maintain.

Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend APIs supporting authentication, payments, subscriptions, analytics, consumption tracking, and text-to-speech services.
- Build and optimize reliable backend systems with a strong focus on scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
- Manage and improve the overall backend API ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration across internal services and external developer APIs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with product strategy, customer needs, and user experience goals.
- Develop enterprise-ready backend solutions and integrations to support B2B customers and customized implementations.
- Contribute to architectural discussions, technical planning, and continuous platform improvements.
- Help identify and prioritize engineering initiatives that maximize business impact while maintaining high software quality standards.

Requirements
- Proven professional experience in backend software development using TypeScript and Node.js.
- Strong experience designing and building scalable RESTful APIs and distributed backend systems.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP); familiarity with AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers is a plus.
- Strong understanding of backend architecture, scalability, performance optimization, and secure application development.
- Ability to balance rapid execution with thoughtful technical decision-making in fast-paced environments.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering and product teams.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in fully remote, asynchronous environments.
- Nice to have: experience with Docker and containerized application development.
- Nice to have: experience deploying and managing highly available applications on Kubernetes.
- Self-driven mindset with strong ownership, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for building high-quality software.
