Software Engineer – Python (Advanced)

About the Role

What if your Python expertise could directly influence how AI systems are built, evaluated, and improved for millions of people? We're seeking advanced Python engineers to tackle real-world software and data challenges:

  • Writing production-grade code
  • Solving complex engineering dilemmas
  • Ensuring AI-driven systems function as intended

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. Ideal for those who thrive on technical depth and enjoy distilling messy problems into robust solutions.

Organization: Alignment (Alignerr) Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You’ll Do

  • Design, implement, and optimise advanced Python code for production-level systems
  • Analyse and manipulate structured datasets to support engineering and modelling workflows
  • Write and refine SQL queries (ETL) for data extraction, transformation, and validation
  • Review, debug, and enhance existing codebases for:
    • Performance improvements
    • Reliability assurance
    • Maintainability best practices
  • Translate ambiguous, high-level requirements into concrete technical solutions
  • Apply consulting-style problem-solving—evaluate trade-offs and recommend optimal approaches
  • Document decisions and implementation nuances with clarity
  • Evaluate AI-generated code (and outputs) for correctness and quality

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
