Backend Software Engineer - Network Analysis
Build mission-critical backend systems that help protect the UK.
Join Roke as a Backend Software Engineer working on high-performance network analysis platforms used in National Security environments.

Our teams tackle some of the country’s most complex technical challenges - and as a Backend Software Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of solving them.
The mission
You’ll work on a network and packet analysis platform that processes high-volume data using technologies such as Python and Apache Pulsar. This is critical to delivering mission-critical software used by National Security customers to keep the UK safe, secure and prosperous. You’ll work on the feature development and maintenance of critical systems in this area, solving complex, real-world problems.

What you’ll build
- Write clean, secure and maintainable backend code in Python using the latest frameworks for processing large volumes of network data.
- Apply best practices for version control and DevOps principles.
- Translate designs into working software, from concept to production.
- Contribute to code reviews and shared technical decisions.
- Design, build, test and document robust backend services.
- Apply appropriate patterns using proven and emerging technologies.
- Stakeholder / customer engagement.
Nice to have
- Messaging or streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka or Apache Pulsar)
- Network analysis / packet analysis domain experience
- Tooling such as GitLab

Where you’ll be based
Romsey – a unique Manor House site near the New Forest and south coast, with on-site parking and gym. We offer a free minibus service between Romsey train station and the office.
