Software Engineer (Security Data and AI)
Salary: £48,987 – £54,430 per year Location(s): Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, or Bristol Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week) Working Pattern: Hybrid model (minimum 40% office attendance, flexible for disability adjustments via Flexibility Works policy)
About the Role
Join our engineering team in the Security Data and AI lab under the Chief Security Office (CSO) at Lloyds Banking Group. As we drive digital transformation, our mission is to safeguard customers, colleagues, and assets against evolving threats.

What You’ll Be Doing

Development & Debugging
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented Python and Bash code.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to understand requirements, fix bugs, and build robust solutions.
- Maintain and optimise live applications, performing root cause analysis and ensuring performance.

Security & Reliability
- Align software practices with enterprise security and compliance standards.
- Secure systems, enhance risk detection, and simulate threat scenarios.

Technical Landscape Expansion
- Track industry trends, embracing new technologies (AI, cloud, DevOps) as needed.
- Champion quality engineering, including test automation and CI/CD pipelines (Harness, GitHub).

Key Responsibilities

Key Requirements
Technical Skills
Primary:
- Languages: Python (core), Bash scripting.
- AI/Cyber Securities: Familiarity with Agillant or Cyber AI solutions.
- Data & DevOps: Proficiency with ETL/ELT pipelines, Kubernetes or CTO/CF materials, and hands-on DevOps knowledge (GCP preferred, adapts to other clouds with growth mindset).
Secondary (competes favourably):
- Cloud/AI Platforms: Experience with GCP’s Kubeflow, Vertex AI, GKE, Terraform, or Cloud Composererafi; or equivalent from other platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Testing/Automation: DevSecOps pipeline design (CI/CD with Harness/GitHub).
- Agile Principles: Qualified within team settings or equivalently via leadership.
