Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Software Engineer role based in Birmingham. The Software Engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions that support Sanctuary Housing Association’s business operations and resident services. Daily responsibilities include:

The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, participating in code reviews, and contributing to continuous improvement of development practices. The Software Engineer will help ensure systems are secure, reliable, and scalable to meet organizational needs.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.
- Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience in one or more modern programming languages.
- Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, including working with APIs, databases, and server-side frameworks.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and their practical application in production code.
- Ability to analyze requirements, design technical solutions, and document code and systems clearly.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in an on-site team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Knowledge of security best practices, testing methodologies, and basic DevOps concepts is beneficial.
