Python Developer – Front Office Equity Derivatives
Location: London (Hybrid)
Radley James is working with a leading global investment bank to recruit a Python Developer for its Front Office Equity Derivatives technology team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a business-facing engineering team supporting a Structured Products and Equity Derivatives desk. You'll work directly with Traders, Structurers, Sales and Middle Office to design, build and enhance critical trading applications that power pricing, execution and risk management.
This is a highly collaborative front office role where you'll develop robust, scalable software, contribute to business-critical projects and work with modern technologies in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and deliver high-quality Python applications for front office trading teams.
- Work closely with Traders, Structurers, Sales and Middle Office to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.
- Build scalable, maintainable and high-performance software supporting pricing, execution and risk workflows.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews and software design decisions.
- Write clean, well-tested and secure code following engineering best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the adoption of modern development practices.
- Collaborate with global development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Requirements
- Strong commercial experience developing applications in Python.
- Experience working within Front Office or Capital Markets technology.
- Excellent software engineering fundamentals and object-oriented programming skills.
- Experience building performant, reliable and scalable systems.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with technical and business stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Equity Derivatives or Structured Products experience.
- Core Java development experience.
- Knowledge of messaging technologies such as IBM MQ or JMS.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience working on pricing, risk or other high-throughput trading platforms.
- Familiarity with Git, Bitbucket, Jira and Confluence.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Linux development experience.
