About the Role

The Role

This company is building the intelligence layer for payment fraud. They're tackling a hard problem: orchestrating real-time evidence gathering from messy sources, synthesizing it with AI, and delivering confident verdicts fast enough for major UK banks. Backed by leading VCs, their ambition is to scale this protocol across billions of global transactions.

You'll join a small, high-calibre engineering team, owning the core of this system. This means end-to-end responsibility for the APIs and UIs banks use, the orchestration layer coordinating diverse data, and the AI agents driving live investigations. This isn't a feature factory; it's a chance to design, build, ship, and iterate on critical infrastructure.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The Work

  • Design and build the APIs and UIs that integrate a real-time investigation engine into major bank payment flows.
  • Architect and implement the orchestration layer, coordinating evidence from heterogeneous, often unstructured, data sources.
  • Develop and deploy AI agents that drive live fraud investigation flows, ensuring rapid, confident verdicts.
  • Ensure 24/7/365 uptime for critical, fault-tolerant distributed systems handling billions of transactions.
  • Drive product outcomes, translating ambiguous problems into shippable solutions without waiting for perfect specs.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of engineering experience, ideally in an early-stage environment where you owned outcomes, not just tickets.
  • Proven track record building fault-tolerant distributed systems with critical uptime requirements (24/7/365).
  • A strong product ownership instinct: you identify the smallest useful thing to ship and drive it to completion.
  • Proficiency in Python and TypeScript/React. You're comfortable with GCP, Terraform, and SQL, but your systems judgment is paramount.
  • Comfort making and defending consequential architecture decisions in a fast-moving, small team.
