Position Description

At CGI, you'll play a key role in delivering secure, high-impact digital solutions that support critical UK Defence operations.

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer (Web Portal Developer), you will help develop, maintain, and enhance customer-facing portal services that enable the delivery of mission-critical information and data products.

Working alongside military personnel, civil servants, and technical specialists at RAF Waddington near Lincoln, you will contribute to innovative solutions that support national security while developing your expertise in a collaborative, supportive environment where your ideas, ownership, and technical growth are valued.

About CGI

CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List 2025 and has been named a UK 'Best Employer' by the Financial Times. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching) which makes you a CGI Partner not just an employee.

We are committed to inclusivity, building a genuinely diverse community of tech talent and inspiring everyone to pursue careers in our sector, including our Armed Forces, and are proud to hold a Gold Award in recognition of our support of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. Join us and you'll be part of an open, friendly community of experts.

We'll train and support you in taking your career wherever you want it to go.

Key Requirements

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position requiring attendance to the Waddington Site near Lincoln when required.

Your Future Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, you will support the development, configuration, and maintenance of secure web portal solutions used within a Defence environment. Working closely with customers, data analysts, and development teams, you will help ensure the reliable delivery of portal services and data products that support operational decision-making. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of technical tasks, contribute to agile development activities, and support the continuous improvement of systems and processes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
