Job Title: Software Engineer (Python Django)
Express Recruitment are representing a rapidly growing automation and controls specialist who are one of the fastest growing firms in the ‘industry 4.0’ sector across the UK. Having already increased their headcount by over 25% in the last two years, they are continuing that trend by looking to hire another Software Engineer (with proven Python Django experience) on a full time, permanent basis.
The successful candidate will be part of a highly skilled team of Software Engineers and play a pivotal part in the technical design and delivery of high-quality software solutions for some of the best-known blue-chip firms in the UK. The best part, you will gain hands on experience with a plethora of modern technology frameworks and emerging AI technologies which will rapidly become part of your daily practice.
Due to the nature of the role, there will be occasional requirements to support on site software integrations and automation system commissioning. Therefore, a full clean UK driving licence will be required to apply. Furthermore, there will also be requirement to support customers with system issues outside of office working hours, which will be working on a rotating rota basis (don’t worry, you will be paid extra for this!)
In return, they are offering a competitive salary between £35,000 to £55,000 per annum, depending on experience. Furthermore, there is also considerable opportunities for continued development and career growth as the business continues its expansion across the UK and EU.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in the design, development and testing of API interfaces
- PostgreSQL database knowledge; including integration, and deployment
- Proven hands-on experience with Python (Django)
- .NET/C# development experience for backend services and system integrations
- Blazor (Server) for interactive front-end development within the.NET ecosystem
- Docker containerisation – building, deploying, and managing containerised applications and services
- Knowledge of RabbitMQ, Including understanding queues, exchanges, bindings, and message routing
- Confident in being able to clearly communicate and simplify technical works carried out to senior management and customers when required
- Proven ability to effectively plan and prioritise yours and other workloads, ensuring project deadlines are met
- Exposure gained in working with AI tools such as Copilot and Claude
- Experienced working within the intralogistics, automation or material handling sector highly desirable
- Full clean UK driving licence

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist in driving the development of an automated warehouse application and new features/products associated with the platform
- Contribute to the innovation of the automated warehouse software department with respect to research and development, new products, and new features
- Develop technical documents in line with client requirements to the industry standards, using
- Adapt to the implementation and standardisation of AI development tools across the team
- Attend code reviews with Lead Developers to ensure quality standards and specification requirements are met
- Assist in the diagnosis of software issues using debugging tools, log analysis, breakpoints, stack traces, and systematic root cause analysis techniques
- Accompany Senior Developers on customer sites to support end-to-end commissioning and software integration works
