Software Engineer – Xplan

Glasgow – Hybrid working
Basic salary up to £77k

We're hiring a Software Engineer with strong IRESS Xplan experience to join a growing technology team building and enhancing an internal Xplan capability. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Application Engineer, Software Engineer, Xplan Developer, or Application Support Analyst looking to work on business-critical financial planning technology and play a key role in shaping the future of the platform.

The Software Engineer – IRESS Xplan will focus on developing, configuring, and enhancing Xplan solutions, delivering improvements across workflows, reporting, integrations, and platform functionality. You'll work across the full lifecycle of IRESS Xplan changes — from understanding requirements and designing solutions through to development, configuration, deployment, technical support, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.

Working closely with business analysts, application engineers, data teams, product teams, and wider stakeholders, the Software Engineer will help deliver reliable Xplan solutions, contribute to the evolution of the platform, and ensure the technology continues to meet the needs of the organisation. There is also the opportunity to help shape best practices and support the growth of Xplan capability within the team.

Software Engineer – Key Requirements:

  • Strong experience building, supporting, and maintaining IRESS Xplan solutions
  • Hands-on experience with Xplan configuration, workflows, and platform enhancements
  • Experience developing solutions using Xmerge, Python, or JavaScript
  • Experience creating, modifying, and improving IRESS Xplan reports and templates
  • Exposure to reporting and data tools including Power BI, Alteryx, and/or Snowflake
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a structured approach to issue resolution
  • High attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy and quality
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working within an agile technology environment
