Job Description
As the Software Engineering Lead, you’ll support the Project Engineering Manager by optimising task delivery, bids, and developer training projects across the software lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:
- Directing and monitoring the engineering team’s workload to align with contractual deadlines and project goals.
- Reviewing engineering estimates, schedules, and resource allocation while liaising with the Project Engineering Manager and stakeholders.
- Identifying and mitigating project risks through procedural analysis and process optimisation.
- Driving continuous improvement in engineering (people, processes, tools, and technology).

Key Duties
- Task and monitor the team against BAE Systems’ engineering processes to meet contracted deliverables.
- Prepare and review schedules/estimates in collaboration with the Project Engineering Manager and stakeholders.
- Allocate resources and update project management systems as directed.
- Support risk management and provide technical guidance on engineering capabilities.
- Champion cross-functional collaboration in software and hardware environments.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
✔ Proven expertise in software and systems engineering (lifecycle governance and complex project environments). ✔ Working knowledge of hardware/electrical engineering principles. ✔ Ability to motivate engineering teams to meet budget, deadlines, and quality standards. 🔹 Advantageous: Familiarity with naval training domains or simulation software.

About the Simulation & Training Team
MEMISIS delivers a hyper-accurate battlespace simulation, modelling naval systems (sonar, radar, and platforms) to support defense training, concept testing, and hardware integration. Your work will directly enhance global naval capabilities.
