An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Software Engineering Lead to join an innovative technology business developing software that powers cutting-edge robotics and automation systems in a real-world environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll combine technical expertise with team leadership, helping to shape a next-generation software platform designed to manage autonomous manufacturing systems at scale. Working closely with senior leadership, you'll drive engineering delivery, mentor a talented team, and remain actively involved in software development.
If you're passionate about building scalable software, enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, and want to see your code have a tangible impact in the physical world, this could be an excellent opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and delivery of software projects, ensuring milestones, priorities, and risks are clearly managed.
- Manage, mentor, and support a small team of software engineers while fostering technical excellence.
- Remain hands-on with development, contributing high-quality code and conducting thorough code reviews.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to provide accurate delivery forecasts and technical guidance.
- Drive technical decision-making and ensure engineering efforts align towards a cohesive product vision.
- Support recruitment, team growth, and resource planning as the engineering function expands.
- Help build software capable of supporting increasingly complex, large-scale deployments.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
