We're hiring on behalf of a Haystack partner!
The Role
- Lead software engineering delivery for complex, safety-critical defence systems, taking ownership from planning through integration and acceptance.
- Combine hands-on technical leadership with team management to ensure predictable delivery of high-quality software against project milestones.
- Shape work delivery methods, foster engineer growth and development, and provide clear technical oversight across assigned work packages.
- Collaborate closely with project management, systems engineering, and adjacent teams to influence priorities and manage dependencies.
- Own the end-to-end planning and delivery of software work packages, managing scope, schedule, budget, risks, and technical dependencies.
- Build, sustain, and evolve software teams with the right skills and capacity to meet current and future program demands.

What You'll Need
- Proven experience leading and developing software engineering teams on complex or safety-critical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver work packages, balancing technical quality, schedule, and cost.
- Practical experience across multiple software lifecycle stages, including requirements, design, implementation, integration, and verification.
- Working knowledge of relevant engineering tools and programming languages such as C/C++, Assembler, and Python for scripting.
- A degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline like Software Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace, Physics, or Mathematics.
- Experience with security and export control regulations relevant to defence systems.
