Software Development Manager

Salford / Hybrid (4 days onsite)

£75,000 - £90,000 + 10% Bonus

Most Software Development Manager roles mean giving up coding. This one doesn't.

My client is a rapidly growing eCommerce business investing heavily in its technology platform and engineering capability. They're looking to appoint a hands-on Software Development Manager to lead a small team whilst remaining deeply involved in software engineering, architecture and technical decision-making.

This isn't a role for someone who's spent the last few years purely managing people. It's for an experienced engineer who has naturally progressed into leadership but still enjoys writing production code and solving complex technical problems.

Working closely with senior technology leadership, you'll help shape the engineering function, improve development standards and play a key role in delivering the next generation of the company's technology platform.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
